National Sports Day was celebrated at Chaitanya Science and Arts College, Pamgarh, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. To mark this occasion memorable, a foot-cricket and “Chaitanya Khel Ratna” Awards Ceremony were organized. Mr. Veerendra Tiwari, Chairman, and Dr. V. K. Gupta, Principal of Chaitanya Science and Arts College, Pamgarh, gracing the event as chief guests. The program commenced with the worship of Goddess Mata Saraswati and offering of flowers at the statue of Major Dhyan Chand, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Subsequently, a foot-cricket match was played between faculties and students. The faculty team winning by a margin of 12 runs. Following the sports activities, a formal program was held to welcome all the guests. Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. K. Gupta, Principal, emphasized the importance of sports in instilling discipline and patience in our lives. He urged everyone to make sports an integral part of their lifestyle and promote it. Mr. Veerendra Tiwari, in his guest address, highlighted that Major Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary is celebrated to honor the great athletes of our nation. He shed light on Dhyan Chand's life, inspiring everyone to aspire to greatness through sports. In recognition of outstanding achievements at the Sector, State, national and Inter zonal university and all India Inter university levels, a total of 29 male and female athletes from the college were honored with the 'Chaitanya Khel Ratna’ Award. The program was smoothly conducted by the master of ceremonies, Manishankar, the Sports Officer. It concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vikas Dinkar, the sports coach. The event witnessed the presence of all the faculty members, a large number of students, and sports enthusiasts.
